Florida Marriage Requirements
Where to Apply
Marriage license can be acquired Monday-Friday,
except on holidays as observed by the County. Allow 20-30
minutes for entire process.
Lee County (8 a.m.-4:15 p.m.): 2115
Second St. in downtown Fort Myers or at 1039 SE 9th Place
in Cape Coral.
Collier County (8 a.m.-5
p.m.): 3301 East Tamiami Trail, Administrative Building,
4th Floor, Naples.
When to apply
Licenses are issued immediately upon application and must
be used within 60 days from date of issue.
Application Forms
Identification
Couple must appear together and be 18 years
old or over. Picture I.D. such as valid drivers license or
passport with your signature is required. For second marriages,
divorce date, state and county of previous marriage (or final
judgement of divorce) is required. If in last 6 months, bring
certified copy of divorce or death certificate. If legal name
differs from name on drivers license then birth certificate
is needed.
Family Law Handbook
The Family Law Handbook is required to be
read per Florida Statute 741. The couple must each read the
booklet and sign an Affidavit of Compliance. Click

of time. The affidavit must be signed at the Clerk's office.
Blood Test
A blood test is not required in the State
of Florida.
Waiting Period
There is no waiting period for couples from
out of state or out of the country. There is a 3-day waiting
period or 4 hours of premarital counseling
required for Florida residents.
Fee
The marriage license costs $93.50 cash only for both Florida
and non-Florida residents. If both bride and groom are Florida
residents that have taken the 4-hour premarital course (certificate
must be provided) and have read the Family Law Handbook,
the fee is $61 cash only.
